about

A corps member from Devonport had been learning the guitar. I was talking about the twelve bar blues, and he had no real idea what I was talking about. I then tried to think about a worship song that was written in that format, but couldn’t think of one. So I decided to write one. (I have since discovered the Christian Blues genre, so I'm sure there are many more.)

This song is based of Psalm 146.

lyrics

Verse 1
From the day that I was born
my God had a plan
You knew my whole life
right in the palm of Your hand
You put me all together
and You made me just right
So I’ll sing Your praises
‘cause You’re so out of sight
So I’ll Praise You
Praise God for all of my days

Verse 2
My God, You made the heavens
and You made all the earth
The stars and seas and fishes
everything that’s of worth
Keeps Your faith forever,
yea, You’ll never leave me
So I’ll sing Your praises
‘cause You let me be free
So I’ll Praise You
Praise God for all of my days

Verse 3
You fight for the oppressed
and You feed the hungry
Frees the prisoned, lifts the fallen,
lets the blind see see
Loves the friend and stranger
the orphan and bereaved,
So I’ll sing Your praises
‘cause You’re all that I need
So I’ll Praise You
Praise God for all of my days

Verse 4
My God You showed Your love for me
despite of my sin,
Sent Your son to die for me
and let me back in,
Left me with a mission
to show all his great love
So I’ll sing Your praises
‘till I join You above
So I’ll Praise You
Praise God for all of my days

So I’ll Praise You
Praise God for all of my days
